If you happen to have been my fellow at the First EVER Nokia App Summit 2012 then you must be just as mesmerized as I am. The two excitements filled days at the Nokia App Summit 2012 being held at Marriott Hotel Karachi were a lifetime experience. The domestic and international, both mobile app industries were benefitted immensely by the ecstatic event. The summit was a combination of a conference, an exhibition and a workshop. Each one of the events was an inevitable part of the summit and could not have been missed.
The conference of Nokia App Summit 2012 covered a series of topics enlightening many benefits that mobile consumers could avail. The onset of the conference with a warm welcome note was just the perfect start it needed to commence. One after the other, the subsequent mesmerizing sessions then kept the participants of the conference glued to their seats. From mobile app monetizing trends and its prospective opportunities to the future of app monetization the entire conference was laden with skilled and experienced speakers who not only knew what they were imparting but were also very best at it. The other conference sessions included discussions on Mobile Consumer Insight, Mobile Health, The Pakistan Mobile Ecosystem, Mobile Education, Mobiles and Advertising Campaigns.
The exhibition accompanying the conference at the Nokia App Summit 2012 was starred with all the goodies that are available at the Nokia Store. These mostly included local apps and relevant content which was available free of cost at the Nokia store. The effectiveness of these apps could be assessed by the fact that almost 2 million downloads per week were being witnessed at the said store. The concept of mobility was very well highlighted at the exhibition where introduction to latest devices and latest mobile apps was efficiently provided. The limelight of the entire exhibition was the demonstration of the very latest Nokia Pureview 808 phone even though this phone is yet to be released officially in the Pakistani marketplace. The first ever 41 MP smartphone, Nokia Pureview’s camera stole the show. The pictures being taken with the newest kid on the block sure had an edge over the earlier versions of camera laden smartphones that Nokia had ever introduced. A live angry birds’ game also starred the exhibition hall.
The workshop at the Nokia App Summit 2012 was graced by Tony Torp, Nokia’s External Trainer for the development of content for Nokia’s Series 40 platform of full touch devices. The beneficiaries of the workshop were not only local app developers but students from leading IT universities were also a part of them. The sessions of the workshop included imparting of integral tips that were required to switch conventional apps into those eligible for full touch phones. The concept was explained with the help of live demos that revealed how the design and technical specifications of full touch user experience could be achieved.
All in all the Nokia App Summit 2012 was a successful event that not only emphasized the importance of mobile apps stressing that they should not be restricted within domains of any kind, but also provided perfect chance for upcoming companies to promote their apps. A sincere congratulation is given to @nokiapakistan and its collaborators for arranging such a successful event with the hope that the trend would be continued in the future as well.
